Scone Estate / Savills discussion sessions

  • Flyers have been posted through village letter boxes - June 14, 2022 is a diary date

Proposed Scone Palace development

As at February 2022, Scone Palace has started a process to investigate options for developing the field to the west of the A93 that they own.

Scone Palace has stated that development will encompass the whole field and not just the area between the access road to the Scottish Water treatment facility and the village.

  • In preparation for the next Local Development Plan review, Scone Estate wish to consult with Guildtown Community over the use of the Estate land adjacent to the village to the west .

  • Discussions are going to take place with the community to identify the future needs of the village . It is hoped that any future development of this land will be decided through discussions with the community. An initial meeting was held on February 22nd with representatives of various Guildtown groups - Flutterby Club; Friendship Group, Bloomin Guildtown, School parents, Wolfhill FC, The Anglers' Inn, Guildtown Garage and the Hall & Playing Fields Association;

  • Savilles - acting as land agent for Scone Palace - will be producing an information leaflet and arranging information sessions (probably to be at the Anglers' Inn and the Hall).

Context

For context, Guildtown will have grown by 40% when the second phase of the Stephens development completes.

  • the size of the original village is around 25 acres;

    • the first Stephens development - just north of the garage - was around 3.7 acres and took the village to 28.7 acres (an increase of 15%)

    • the second Stephens development (currently under construction) is about 11.4 acres and takes the village to ~40.1 acres

If the whole field to the west of Guildtown is developed, the village's area will increase to ~95.4 acres which is:

  • 281% (almost 3 times) larger than the original village; or

  • 138% (almost 1.5 times) larger than the village will be on completion of the Stephens housing currently being built..
